Program Description

Event Details

Carnegie-Stout Public Library is excited to welcome Wild Prairie Winds, a nonprofit organization and woodwind quintet based in Iowa. They will present a lecture and recital titled Exploring Themes of Community in Music Composed in Iowa. This program will be an exploration of the way music has shaped Iowa communities, and how those communities are reflected in the creations of Iowa's musicians.

The program will include several musical performances, an educational lecture given by musicologist and oboist, Dr. Jenna Sehmann, and provide time for discussion and questions. The goal of the Wild Prairie Winds woodwind quintet is to bring Iowa communities together and create a space for dialogue about music, culture, and community. This event is supported by grants from the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and Humanities Iowa.

This event is free and open to all ages. Registration is encouraged, but not required.
