Reading Roundtable Adult Book Discussion - The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison

Books will be a mix of non-fiction and fiction, and will be available at the check-out desk one month before the discussion date. 

The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison is the September Reading Roundtable book club book, in conjunction with Banned Books Week.

Eleven-year-old Pecola Breedlove, an African-American girl in an America whose love for blonde, blue-eyed children can devastate all others, prays for her eyes to turn blue, so that she will be beautiful, people will notice her, and her world will be different.

Appeal factors: Classic, literary African American fiction, haunting, bleak and sympathetic.
