The Carnegie-Stout Public Library and the Northeastern Iowa chapter of the Quilts of Valor® (QOV) Foundation invite the public to a ceremony honoring local veterans on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. The ceremony will award nominated veterans touched by war with comforting and healing quilts.

“This year, we have reached a milestone of honoring 1,000 veterans with a healing quilt,” said NE Iowa QOV Coordinator Cyndy Billmeyer. “It is our pleasure to honor and award Command Sergeant Major Lloyd L. Smith with our 1,000th Quilt of Valor at the Nov. 6 ceremony.”

The public may also view a collection of quilts made by the Northeastern Iowa chapter of the Quilts of Valor® Foundation in the third-floor rotunda from Oct. 25-Nov. 3 during regular library hours.

Registration is not required, however seating is limited and priority will be given to the veterans and their family members.
