Local practitioners, educators, and experts in the field of trauma and mental health will discuss what trauma looks like, how it affects us, and what resources for support, reliance, and recovery exist in the community with guidance from a moderator from Riverview Center.

Join us for this Dubuque County Reads 2025 kickoff event on Thursday March 27 @ 6:30 at Heritage Center's Babka Theatre at University of Dubuque.

Panelists:

  • Mae Hingtgen, CEO-Mental Health and Disability Services of the East Central Region
  • Tricia Borelli, Director of Counseling Services, Loras College
  • Brian McLauchlin, Instructor of Interdisciplinary Studies, Divine Word
  • Nathan Hough, Associate Professor of Psychology, University of Dubuque
  • Katie Kopp, Clinical Psychologist, Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Moderator: Elyse Acompanado, Sexual Assault Therapist, Riverview Center

The event will also include resource tables from NAMI and the Mental Health and Disability Services of the East Central Region. Copies of the 2025 Dubuque County Reads book What My Bones Know, by Stephanie Foo will be available for purchase. Copies of the book are also available at the first floor Check Out Desk at Carnegie-Stout Public Library.

Meet author Stephanie Foo on Thursday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m.  in the Third Floor Commons at Loras College Library. This special event is free and open to the public.
