Event Details

Amateur weather enthusiast Mikey Anglin will be at Carnegie-Stout Public Library in Dubuque at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024 to talk about his interests in weather observation and storm chasing.

Mikey Anglin is a trained volunteer with the National Weather Service SKYWARN® Storm Spotters, a program which helps keep local communities safe by providing severe weather reports to nearby NWS Forecast Offices.

He first became interested in the weather as a student, after reading a school library book about lightning. When Mikey later discovered that storm chasing alleviated his anxiety, he began sharing weather-related news and information to Facebook groups like "Dubuque Straight Up" and "Dubuque & Tri-State Area News And Exchange," and more recently through his own group, "Thunderstruck Chasing and Severe Weather Center."

During his presentation in the Library's 3rd Floor Auditorium, Mikey will explain why he loves the weather, what he hopes people take away from his Facebook posts, and what to expect from the upcoming tornado season. His talk is free and open to the public, and audience questions and comments will be encouraged.
