Carnegie-Stout Public Library has received funding from Humanities Iowa, a private, non‐profit, to host a presentation called Just Before the Battle, Mother by O.J. Fargo. A cultural resource for Iowans since 1971, Humanities Iowa offers many cultural and historical programs and grants to Iowa's communities.

Dressed in a full Union Army uniform, Mr. Fargo will portray an Iowa Civil War veteran returning home after the war, and talk about the everyday life of a soldier as well as discuss the state’s involvement in the war. In addition, a table of civil war artifacts will be on display and participants will have the opportunity to quickly research their Iowa Civil War ancestors using a one-of-a-kind database.

No registration is necessary to attend this program. If you are a person with a disability who requires special assistance, please call 563-589-4225, ext. 2224 in advance
