To kick off Banned Books Week, Carnegie-Stout Public Library is pleased to welcome Steve Drahozal, Dubuque lawyer and leader of the FREADOM Book Club, to present "Shackled Shelves: How Power Uses Books to Control What You Read and Who You Are".
Mr. Drahozal will discuss the history, current state, and reasons behind book bans and challenges. He will discuss the First Amendment protections of our rights to receive information and discover ourselves.
River Lights will be selling copies of the top 10 most challenges books before and after the presentation.
This program is free and open to all ages. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
