Program Description

Event Details

This Advanced session of Self Defense for People with Mobility Issues is meant for people who have already attended an Introductory session of Self Defense with instructor Eryka Cook of Empowermental. This class will cover advanced moves and techniques and involve special tools and equipment. In order to register for this session you must speak with a librarian at the second floor Reference Desk either in person or by calling the library at 563-589-4225.

This hands-on, participant-led class will cover your specific questions and concerns. Bring your questions and instructor Eryka Cook of Empowermental will help you find the answers so that you can feel safe and confident. No one goes through life without facing some struggles, and if your mobility, flexibility, or relationship with your body isn’t what it used to be, these sessions are for you.

Eryka Cook has decades of experience and a black belt in Karate and she wants you to feel empowered! In this 90-minute class she will guide participants ages 18+ through advanced moves and techniques, and she will provide modifications to suit your needs and abilities. Participants of all ability levels who have previously attended one of Eryka's self-defense classes at either Carnegie-Stout or the Empowermental studio are welcome to join in this fun and judgment free event.

Space for this event is limited and registration is required. You must speak with a librarian at the second floor Reference desk in person or by phone at 563-589-4225 to register. This event is for adults ages 18+.
