Join us for the Art @ your library® opening reception for the artists on Friday, October 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. featuring the Plein Air Painters of Dubuque (PPODS). Meet the artists Kim Daykin, Deb Otto, Ellen Henkels, Linda Grice, Rabecca Jayne Hennessey, Pam Hiatt, Julie Ferring, Rose Ann Derks, Alda Kaufman, Barbara Heitzman, Rita Persian, Mercedes Pfab, Kate Cooper, and Renee Meyer.

Meet and speak with the artists. Music provided by the JazzQ featuring the faculty of Northeast Iowa Community College.

The PPODS are local and regional artists who work in acrylic, oil, pastel, and watercolor. They are local and regional artists who meet and paint in local outdoor locations. They began meeting one day a week in the summer of 2016 to paint in various outdoor locations to capture the landscape, the spontaneity of light, and weather conditions.  Painting ‘Plein Air,’ is a French term for painting “in the open air,” much like the Impressionist’s tradition of painting from nature.

Enjoy this unique show that is free and open during regular Library hours through Monday, November 20, 2023.

The Library is celebrating Art @ your library® by featuring unique local exhibits. The first Friday of every other month there is an art show opening that features two dimensional and three dimensional artists for a display in the historic rotunda area. The art is on display for up to two months.
