Come visit Carnegie-Stout Public Library to learn about the struggles and triumphs faced by Black Iowans in their fight for equal rights. A traveling exhibit from the African American Museum of Iowa (AAMI) will be on display June 22 through July 6 on the second floor of the library during regular library hours. Featured individuals include Alexander Clark, the man who helped desegregate Iowa schools in 1868, and Edna Griffin, the woman who led sit-ins at the Katz Drugstore in Des Moines in 1948.
